I shot this succulent with a macro lens and small depth of field to emphasize it’s symmetry and the feeling of universal depth. I wanted the composition to feel like it had no beginning or end. The plant itself is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it is found in steep open rocky areas in coastal and inland mountains and desert foothills, such as the Santa Monica Mountains.
