This image made me think of Sylvia Plath's poem Tulips. Plath, who was very ill, used the imagery of vibrant red Tulips on her hospital nightstand as as a metaphor for choosing to live when she might have wanted to let her self slip away. I shot this image on Art Hill, outside the museum in St. Louis.
